Creativity and Expression

If you write for God you will reach many men and bring them joy. If you write for men–you may make some money and you may give someone a little joy and you may make a noise in the world, for a little while. If you write for yourself, you can read what you yourself have written and after ten minutes you will be so disgusted that you will wish that you were dead.
Thomas Merton

Please don’t be lost or constrained by any of the terms used here; rather focus on the universal nature of the thoughts and ideas. They are more relevant than ever in understanding the challenges and opportunities before us in our global workplace.

The Abbey at Gethsemani in central Kentucky in the US is a real but mystical place where Merton sequestered himself as a monk, wrote prolifically, and connected with eastern thought leaders in Asia.

If one of his writings, Seeds of Contemplation, (or his body of work) is for you it will be immediately apparent.

Cheers to the evolution of civilization, the meeting of eastern and western ideas, and blessings on our workplaces!
